Who Are We?

Get Fit Great Falls is a community-wide campaign by the Cascade County Physical Activity Council to encourage residents to get physically active and to eat healthy. Cascade County Commissioner Peggy Beltrone researched a USDA Forest Service initiative aimed at inviting people to use public lands for fitness, which led to the creation of the Cascade County Physical Activity Council. Local, state and federal officials teamed up with private citizens and non-profit organizations to form this Council.

The campaign aims to motivate residents by promoting free and low-cost health programs and resources available in Cascade County.

The major goal of the Cascade County Physical Activity Council is to encourage residents to get up and get moving again, by engaging in more physical activity.

"What we are trying to do is harmonize the multitude of programs geared at encouraging people in Cascade County to be fit," said Chairwoman Beltrone.

Getting regular physical activity can improve your health and wellbeing in a number of ways. In fact, it can substantially reduce your risk of dying of coronary heart disease - the nation's leading cause of death.  It can also reduce your risk for stroke, colon cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure and help control weight.

It's never too late to start an active lifestyle! No matter what your age, starting a more active lifestyle now can make you healthier and improve your quality of life.
